Borrelia bacteria

What is Lyme disease?

Lyme disease is the fastest growing infectious disease in the world. And is caused by the Borrelia bacterium. This is a screw-like bacterium also called spirochetes. The disease is named after the village of Lyme in Connecticut in the USA where there was an epidemic outbreak in 1975. Lyme is often transmitted by a tick.

There are many misunderstandings in the medical world surrounding Lyme disease. For example, the disease can be transmitted by all biting or stinging insects and even rodents that carry the disease. The disease can be transmitted immediately upon contact with blood. Think here, for example, of a mosquito bite. Thus, a tick does not have to be on the body for a very long time to transmit the disease. Also the red circle called erythema migrans certainly does not always occur in Lyme disease.

Lyme is a multisystem disease that can affect all organs and can mimic more than 50 other diseases. When the bacteria get into the brain it becomes dangerous and gives neurological disorders.

Lyme is well treatable in the early stage with antibiotics preferably with probiotics prebiotics and supplements to strengthen the body. After all, antibiotics kill not only the causative agent of the disease, but also good bacteria.

In the later stage, Lyme is more difficult to treat but still possible. There are several methods for this. Particular attention should be paid to nutrition. Lyme is crazy about sugars and carbohydrates. But also keeping the body in physical condition is important to stop the bacteria.

When Lyme enters the brain it becomes dangerous but the disease can be controlled.
